Since 1936, the Lambert Trophy has been awarded to the best team in the East at the highest level of college football. After a brief hiatus, the Lambert Trophy Championship Association was formed to ensure that the award is once again given annually.
The Lambert Trophy has previously been referred to as the “Lambert-Meadowlands Trophy.” This name is no longer used and the Trophy has been restored to its original name, the Lambert Trophy.
